A large number of such people had followed him. 16 When the Pharisees and teachers of the law saw him eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 When Jesus heard this, he said, “The healthy don’t need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
