Natural Dyes Part 3 Dyeing with Cochineal Insects

Terms I use explained: Mordanting - prepping fabric to bond with the dye WOF (weight of fiber) - when measuring out ingredients for dyeing/mordanting, most of the time you use the "weight of fiber" as the main reference point. Fiber refers to the fabric. So 10% WOF is 10% of the weight of the fabric you are dyeing. Aluminum Acetate - a metal salt that is a great mordant for cellulose fibers. Calcium Carbonate - I use this term interchangeably with "chalk" because they are the same thing. Calcium Carbonate is the pure compound without any additives.
