BFR bands designed to occlude to determine safe training pressure
This is an example of how blood flow restriction (BFR) bands that are designed to cause arterial occlusion can be applied safely with exercise. Saga Fitness is a great example. With the Masimo Pulse Oximeter you can see that limb occlusion pressure (LOP) is established when the pulse is lost. The Saga Fitness App recommends training at 50% of the LOP for the upper body. When 50% of LOP is applied, the perfusion index is reduced, but a pulse is present into the digit reflecting the artery is open and blood flow continuing to move through the limb.
