Panel Three: Climate Change and the Law of the Sea, and Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Living Resources The Law of the Sea Institute (LOSI) at the University of California, Berkeley and the Ocean Policy and Law Institute at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (KIOST) convene experts in international ocean law, policy, data science, and natural science to discuss how to facilitate the conduct and dissemination of marine scientific research for the benefit of all humankind. This year, the conference is being held to honor the lifetime achievements of Professor Harry N. Scheiber, a renowned scholar of the law of the sea. Professor Scheiber has been a pioneer in the field of ocean law, and his work has had a profound impact on the development of international law. The objective is to identify obstacles in the current legal framework for marine scientific research and discuss possible solutions to advance the law of the sea.
