Tomy Train Guy’s Custom Showcase: Mavis the Quarry Diesel

Mavis is a diesel engine who works for the quarry company shunting freight cars in their sightings. Here she is folks, what you've been waiting for, my custom Mavis the Quarry Diesel. She made using a Hit Toys Trackmaster version that I did an unboxing video of and after the video I decided I was gonna update her and give her better proportions. I started by fixing the cab height since it was too short, this was done with balsa wood. Then I began work on her side plates since they were also too short. I gave her new Bufferbeams from two Trackmaster 2 Thomas' since her original Bufferbeams were too flat and too small. Her new funnel was made using the tip of a chopstick, since her original funnel was once again too small. I painted her Matte Black since I never liked her being glossy black and her danger stripes were repainted. The lamp she has is from my old trackmaster Molly, since I was originally gonna give her the Thomas lamp on her side but decided not to because of how wide her bodyshell is. So instead I laid on top of her just like in the CGI series and added lamp irons on her running board which was done using toothpicks. Her side and back handrails were done using paper clips that I cut up and superglued on and her decals were made on google slides, printed out on applied using Modge Podge. Finally, her face is the original face that I redid because when I first tried to remove it cracked and I fixed it with putty and gray paint which turned out awful, so I cleaned it up painted her eyes white and redid her eyebrows. Here wheels were given a silver trim to make them pop more and after that she was done. I do plan on giving her a better motor since her original motor is a little dodgy, but it's fine. I'm very proud with how she came out and the next diesel character I'll be updating is Salty. Hope you enjoy and more big projects coming soon!
