In the last episode we travelled from Okayama to Kobe Animal Kingdom. Today we return to Kobe to visit the "Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden," right beside the Shinkansen. To get there, exit JR Shin-Kobe Station, follow the signs to the herb garden, and ride the ropeway all the way up the mountain. (Visited: 2026 / 05) As the ropeway slowly climbs, one side opens onto the herb garden while a glance back reveals the city of Kobe. Starting from the summit station, we wander through the Observation Lounge, the Fragrance Museum, the Herb Museum—where herbs are sorted by category such as culinary and dyeing—and the beautifully arranged Glass House and Kitchen Garden. The not-to-be-missed "Kobe Terrace," with its sweeping view and a soft-serve in hand, makes for a wonderfully relaxing moment. Back down the mountain, we take the subway to Kobe Harborland umie, and from Mosaic Plaza we gaze out at Kobe Port Tower—just in time to catch the cruise ship "Concerto" setting sail. Here we slow down, sip a coffee, enjoy some food, and browse the exotic little shops, taking in this microcosm of Kobe, an international port city. That evening, on the way back to Okayama, we happened to spot the ONE PIECE Shinkansen at the station. In the blink of an eye we were back in Okayama, closing the day once again at Torikizoku.
