Festa do Colete Encarnado / Onda de calor: informações e recomendações

To address the predicted high temperatures for the coming days, the City Hall is implementing the following measures as part of the Festa do Colete Encarnado (Red Vest Festival): • Due to the high risk of fire, the dawn serenades and the fireworks display at the closing ceremony are cancelled; • The parade route, following the tribute to the Campino (cowboy), on Saturday, will be reduced (to about half its length); • The bull run on Sunday will be brought forward by half an hour, starting at 10:00 AM; • The operating hours of the Advanced Medical Post, located next to the Courthouse, will be extended; • Several water points will be available throughout the city; • The streets will be watered throughout the days. Considering the National Day of Mourning decreed by the Government for Sunday, a minute of silence will be observed at the beginning of the show. The following recommendations are also made: • Drink water regularly; • Protect yourself from the sun, namely by wearing hats, sunglasses and sunscreen; • Avoid physical exertion during the hottest hours; • Pay extra attention to the most vulnerable (elderly, children, people with chronic illnesses).
