Fragrant Roasted Jasmine Milk Tea Recipe | Creamy Homemade Boba-Style Milk Tea This Roasted Jasmine Milk Tea is rich, creamy, and deeply aromatic, just like the milk tea you get at your favourite boba shop! By toasting jasmine black tea first, you bring out its nutty and floral fragrance, creating a beautifully balanced drink with a warm roasted depth. The combination of whole milk and evaporated milk gives it a smooth, velvety texture that pairs perfectly with chewy boba, pudding, or even just ice. This recipe makes about 1.5 litres of milk tea, perfect for storing and enjoying throughout the week. Ingredients 40 g jasmine black tea 1000 ml whole milk 500 ml evaporated milk 400 ml water 25 g brown sugar (optional or adjust to taste) Instructions 1. Prepare all ingredients, a pot, and a ladle. 2. Add jasmine black tea to the pot. 3. Toast over very low heat until fragrant, stirring to prevent burning. 4. Once fragrant, carefully add the water (watch out for splashes). 5. Bring to a gentle boil and let steep for about 5 minutes. 6. Add your sweetener of choice and stir until dissolved. 7. Pour in whole milk and evaporated milk. 8. Cook for 10–15 minutes on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent spills. 9. Remove from heat once foamy and let it cool, allowing the tea to steep longer for a stronger flavour. 10. Strain out tea leaves and store in an airtight container in the fridge. 11. Serve warm or over ice! Tips & Variations For a healthier version, swap brown sugar for honey or skip it entirely. Try other teas like earl grey, oolong, or roasted green tea (hojicha) for a different aroma. For easy cleanup, use tea bags instead of loose leaves. Boil the water first, then add the tea bags later it won’t be roasted milk tea, just a regular milk tea. Add boba pearls, grass jelly, or pudding to turn it into your favourite bubble tea. This is my go-to milk tea recipe. It is simple, forgiving, and delicious every time. The roasted jasmine tea gives the drink a calming floral aroma and a light smoky note that makes it truly special. Make it once, and you’ll never go back to store-bought milk tea again!
