Hermila, affectionately known by Chotano residents and visitors as "the mute one," received a visit she never imagined: her daughter Cristina, whom she hadn't seen for more than four decades. Hermila was barely 19 years old when life separated her from her little girl. Cristina was adopted by a family of Chinese origin, and since then, their paths have taken different directions. Today, at 42 years old and accompanied by her own daughter, Cristina returned to search for her mother. The reunion was a tearful embrace, smiles, and silences that spoke volumes. Hermila's neighbors and friends celebrated the joy of finally seeing her with the daughter she had longed for.
