TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM, PAREPARE -- Police have arrested a motor vehicle theft (curanmor) gang operating in Parepare City, South Sulawesi (Sulsel). Three perpetrators were apprehended by police: AN (42), TK (37), and MJ (37), the receiver. Tribun-Timur observed the three perpetrators leaving the Parepare Police Headquarters wearing prison uniforms. Two perpetrators, AN and TK, were seen walking unsteadily due to bandages on their right calves after being shot by police. Police were forced to subdue the two perpetrators because they resisted arrest. Parepare Police Chief, AKBP Arman Muis, stated that the three perpetrators, residents of Makassar City, were arrested at the Gandaria Hotel on Jalan Bau Massepe, West Bacukiki District, Parepare, on Sunday (April 13th). He said the three men committed motorcycle thefts in Parepare by entering the victim's yard and then using a fake key to steal the motorcycle. Arman added that his team is currently investigating the motorcycle theft gang. He suspects the gang was coordinated with several perpetrators based outside of Parepare. For their actions, the three were charged under Article 363 in conjunction with Article 65, which carries a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison.
