The Guild is back – and with The Guild: Europe 1410, we're taking a look at the demo of a true classic in this introductory review. 🏰⚖️ Few game concepts sound as much like a classic as this blend of medieval settings, economics, social mobility, family, politics, and intrigue. We don't start as a great ruler of an entire empire, but rather with a more down-to-earth approach: a profession, a business, goods, trade, and the hope of eventually building influence, wealth, and perhaps even a small dynasty. According to Steam, The Guild: Europe 1410 aims to depict precisely this path to power in medieval Europe: choosing a profession, mastering trade, utilizing politics and intrigue, climbing the social ladder, and securing one's legacy. The game is being developed by Ashborne Games and published by THQ Nordic; Early Access is currently planned for July 16, 2026. Sounds like exactly the stuff that makes for great economic and management games. But the big question with The Guild, of course, is: Does the blend of economic simulation, role-playing, life simulation, and power play still hold up today? Or is the idea, while nostalgically powerful, more difficult to implement in practice than one might think?
