The Missoni Zigzag Summer Jumper, knitted with a mix of summer yarns (cotton, linen, and silk), is bright, comfortable, and lightweight. It's knitted top-down with a dropped shoulder created by increases in the shoulder seam. This basic pattern can be used to knit any sweater or jumper, using the yarn of your choice. Knit 3 stitches together, knit 4, yarn over*, knit 1 (repeat between *) Row 2: Knit all stitches when knitting in the round, purl all stitches when knitting in turning rows. Repeat rows 1 and 2. Working: 1x1 ribbing (size 2.5 knitting needles), neckline: 2x2 ribbing (size 3 knitting needles) Stitch Count. For the neckline (60 cm), cast on 132 (+1) stitches on #3 knitting needles, join them in a circle, and knit 10-12 rows in 2x2 rib pattern, then three rows of purl stitches in a circle. Then switch to #3.75 knitting needles. After the neckline, divide the stitches into the back and front pieces. 58 stitches for the back and 62 stitches for the front, plus 6 stitches each (2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit). Knit the neckline indentation (diagram in the video) on the front piece (1-1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4-20-4-4-3-3-2-2-1-1-1). Raglan increases 35 times, 2 stitches in every other row (one in the stitch of the previous row + one from the twisted yarn over), starting with the first row after the neckline. Distribute the pattern according to the pattern repeat. Add one stitch in the center of the front and back – the center of the pattern repeat. In total, add 35 stitches along the shoulder on each side of the front and back. Front: 62 + 1 + 35 + 35 = 133 stitches. Back: 58 + 1 + 35 + 35 = 129 stitches. Knit the front and back separately; armhole height is 17-20 cm. Add 1 stitch at each undercut and knit in the round on 264 stitches (22 repeats) to the desired length. Finish the hem with a 1x1 rib pattern (5-6 rows) on size 3 needles. Sleeve Knit in the round around the armhole on size 3.75 needles (2 stitches from each edge stitch) - 82 stitches + 1 stitch (add in the middle of the shoulder strap for pattern symmetry) = 83 stitches. If desired, make the sleeve cap with shortened rows from the top of the sleeve (1 (top)-7-6-5-5-5-5-4-4), distribute the pattern from the top. After knitting the sleeve cap, switch to knitting in the round, knit 12-14 rows, and decrease 4 stitches at the undercut twice, 2 stitches in every other row. Finish the sleeve with a 1x1 rib pattern for 5-6 rows on size 2.5 knitting needles.
