Lesson 2: The Guard Dog & The Wise Owl
Mrs. Weller uses the metaphor of the guard dog (amygdala) and the wise owl (prefrontal cortex) to help her elementary school students understand brain function and stress response. When the guard dog mixes up the difference between DIFFICULT and DANGEROUS, it can lead to unexpected behaviors and the need for some calming strategies.
