Repairing A Soft Driveway With Geogrid And Rip Rap
Repairing a soft driveway with geogrid and rip rap. This was part of a driveway and pad that was built a few months ago by another contractor that used clay dug out of a pond but it's not holding up to the traffic. This clay is a fatty soft clay that is only good for lining ponds it's not structural clay at all. So I came in and removed almost 2' of it then rolled out geogrid which will work the same as fabric it just doesn't tear as easy. Then we covered the area in rip rap and topped with 3" base rock to get them a nice solid subbase. This will now hold up to the rest of the construction and we will be back later on to bury the downspouts and top with 1" rock after the concrete approach is formed.
