Day 4 - Normandy D-Day moto camping tour 2025 - Arromanche

Day 4 - D Day Arromanche We travel to Arromanche, part of Gold Beach, where the British Army landed as part of Operation Overload in 1944. Also the site of one of the 2 Mulberry harbours that were brought over from England so that all the troops and equipment could be unloaded without using an already existing deep water port. First in Arromanche was the Dutch memorial. After this we went just up the road to the site of WN37 which was a German strong point that fought against the British Beach landings. Then to the Royal Engineers memorial that looks over Arromanche beach and then back to the town for the British ceremony where 5 D Day veterans were present. Amazing day. Day 5 is the return home. It was raining!. All the kit was put away wet. There was a frantic search for a misplaced mobile phone and then a scenic ride to Cherbourg to catch the ferry to Poole. 4 bikers travel from the Midlands to Normandy for the D-Day commemorations. We stayed at Camping des Bords de l'Aure, which is where we stayed in September. It cost 150 Euros for 5 days between 4 of us. They gave us 2 pitches instead of the 1 we had booked.
