The emergence of Chinese brands, along with advancements in technology and performance, has drastically changed the rules of the game for traditional manufacturers. In this scenario, Spain stands out as a market where local sentiment still carries significant weight, allowing brands with a national identity to maintain a strong appeal. In recent years, Cupra has gained considerable prominence, evolving from its origins as SEAT's performance division to establishing itself as an independent brand. Although it has been part of the Volkswagen Group since 2018, Cupra has managed to preserve its own identity, fostering a sense of connection and loyalty among its customers. Currently, the company is in a period of adjustment, facing challenges similar to those of other European manufacturers. In this context, the new Terramar emerges as the brand's great hope for maintaining its business strength and demonstrating its ability to compete at the highest level in the SUV segment. To promote this model, Cupra has launched a specific offer for the plug-in hybrid version, designed especially for customers who opt for financing. The special offer, available until the end of June, proposes a monthly payment of €260. To access this amount, an initial down payment of €10,887 is required, with a 48-month payment plan and a final payment of €30,149 after four years. To benefit from these conditions, a minimum of €18,000 must be financed through Volkswagen Bank, bringing the final financed price to €44,606. This figure represents a reduction compared to the list price, which is around €49,720, and the promotional price without financing of €45,456. Although the down payment is considerable, the offer is attractive for those looking for a zero-emissions vehicle with a sporty focus. From a technical standpoint, the Terramar e-Hybrid stands out primarily for its electric range, placing it in a privileged position compared to its competitors. The vehicle has a 19.7 kWh net battery (approximately 25.7 kWh gross), allowing it to achieve a homologated electric range of 118 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. This figure is ideal for covering daily urban mobility needs without resorting to the gasoline engine. Furthermore, the model is versatile in its charging capabilities, accepting up to 11 kW AC and up to 50 kW DC fast charging, a feature uncommon in most plug-in hybrids. As for its powertrain, the Terramar combines a 1.5 TSI gasoline engine with an electric motor, achieving a combined output of 204 hp. This power is managed by a six-speed DSG automatic transmission. While not the most powerful version in the range—the Terramar VZ boasts 272 hp—the 204 hp version provides immediate acceleration and superior responsiveness compared to many current hybrids, recapturing driving sensations often lost with electrification. The driver can manage the car's behavior via the central screen, choosing between automatic hybrid, manual hybrid, or fully electric modes. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4.52 meters in length, placing it on the larger side of the compact segment. The trunk in the PHEV version offers a capacity of 490 liters, which expands to over 1,200 liters with the rear seats folded down. Despite the reduced cargo space compared to conventional versions due to the battery's placement, the volume is still sufficient for traveling with luggage. The interior reflects a high level of digitalization and sustainability. It includes a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
