Crimson Desert's combat plays like a mix of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors but its story can be brutal like game of thrones. The size of the game world is comparable to the immensity in those books as well. I don't think it'll be long before we get a vast ocean separating continents in games like this that can be traversed in real time. I'd like to see something like that in Crimson Desert when PA does DLC for this already massive game. There might only be 14 chapters in the story, but that's 168 quests. There are nearly 600 side quests and growing (extra content is being added to the game all the time). There are nearly two dozen unique mounts. You can tame birds, cats, dogs and more to be pets and right now you can have a maximum of 100 pets 50 can be visible in your camp ground. There are so many things to see, merchants to meet, caves to explore and puzzles to solve in this world. Games are getting larger and larger and the amount of content in each game also continues to grow. Crimson Desert is easily twice the size of Skyrim if not bigger. Originally Crimson Desert was designed as a prequal to the Black Desert mmo, Pearl Abyss shifted directions and made a solo game instead. I might be mistaken but I think the lore is also disconnected from the mmo and is its own thing or a separate reality now. What I do know is that there are some references to the anime Berserk which might connect the two worlds somehow. Black Desert had a collab a few years back featuring Guts and Griffith so it would not surprise me if they did something that connected the worlds. Only time will tell. Crimson Desert does feel like a Grown up Breath of the Wild with ten times the playable hours. I thought this game was fake when I saw it. I thought it was AI slop, but it is not.
