W123 Aux fan AC mod & Evaporator cleaning (Cheap/Free ways to get better AC)

The AC on our older Mercedes always feel a bit inadequate when compared to a newer vehicle. I'm slowly tinkering and learning about the system and some of its weak points so I can teach you ways to improve the AC as cheaply as possible! I'm expecting some viewer to chime in and suggest using R12, and while that is one way to improve the performance, it is getting more and more difficult to obtain R12, and should you ever have a TXV fail or other components, all the new parts being made for these older cars are no longer designed for R12, so performance will suffer.
