Creating Digital Twins for Virtual Immersive Smart Installations
The digital twin model is the basis for successful digital twin performance (Tao et.al. 2022). The creation of digital twins for smart installations requires digital entities modeled according to the goals and requirements of the installation. This talk will discuss a funded research project, focusing on the Virtual Reality (VR) team's approach to assessing and addressing the requirements of an installation utilizing remote sensing and mobile robotic devices and their visualization within VR. In addition, the talk will feature a comparison of completion time, quality, control, and cost of creating digital entities in-house versus using outsourced companies, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of each.
