6th Day of the Novena of Work: Working in the Company of God and with Right Intention Reflection: Words of Saint Josemaría Escrivá “Throughout the day you must maintain a constant conversation with the Lord, which is also nourished by the very incidents of your professional task.” 12. “As a Christian, you should always carry your crucifix with you and place it on your work desk. And kiss it before going to rest and upon waking.” 13. “Place an image of Our Lady on your work desk, in your room, in your wallet, and direct your gaze to it when you begin your task, while you perform it, and when you finish it. She will grant you – I guarantee! – the necessary strength to make your occupation a loving dialogue with God.” 14. Intentions A: to find work | B: to do a good job A: That God may grant me an honest and dignified job, and open the eyes of my soul to understand that He is always by my side. A: That, so as not to lose sight of this wonderful reality, I strive to have God's presence during my work, discreetly using – as a "reminder" – a small crucifix, an image of Our Lady, or the effigy of another saint of my devotion; "reminders" placed where I can see them frequently, without ostentation or fanfare. B: That God may make me understand that He is always by my side while I am working. And that, so as not to lose sight of this wonderful reality, I strive to have God's presence during my work, discreetly using – as a "reminder" – a small crucifix, an image of Our Lady, or the effigy of another saint of my devotion; "reminders" placed where I can see them frequently, without ostentation or fanfare.
