Over the past two and a half months, there have been reports of 10 deaths and more than 35 people injured in wolf attacks. The fear is so intense that residents are staying awake through the night to guard their villages. Taking note of the situation, the Uttar Pradesh government has dispatched Minister Arun Kumar Saxena to the area, and experts have been called for the search the wolves. The government is also installing doors in homes that previously lacked them to ensure people can sleep safely indoors. Compensation has been announced for the victims, with ₹5 lakh for the families of the deceased, and various categories of compensation for the injured. Authorities, along with local representatives, are raising awareness among residents and maintaining a vigil throughout the night. The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department is conducting drone surveillance in suspected areas, with the assistance of Wildlife SOS and other organizations to quickly capture the wolves.
