The Compass Harbor Trail is a peaceful, easy 0.8-mile round-trip hike in Acadia National Park, just one mile south of downtown Bar Harbor off Route 3. The trail features quiet woods, the historic estate ruins of the park's founder, George Dorr, and stunning views of Frenchman Bay. Trail Details & Highlights Distance: 0.8 miles out-and-back Elevation Gain: ~36 feet Difficulty: Easy Time to Complete: 30–60 minutes Dorr Estate Ruins: Branch off via the historic stone steps to explore the original patio foundations of "Old Farm," the former summer home of George Dorr. The Shoreline: The trail ends at Dorr Point and a dramatic rocky beach offering views of the Porcupine Islands.
