Upon arriving, he spread the Alpine loot on the table and began inventorying the parts for the major electrical project. The tally was promising: he already had the insulating cable and the fuel cell. Only two components were missing. With technical skill, he used the workbench to assemble the circuit board without further problems. Three of the four elements were ready. Only one remained, the most elusive: the industrial fuse. Knowing that these types of parts are usually found in hardware stores, Rigoberto set his sights on the nearest establishment, located next to the gas station at his old base. He set off immediately, but the asphalt stretched out so far that dusk caught up with him by the time he arrived. Far from wasting the hours of darkness, he optimized his time in his old shelter: he planted a new batch of potatoes and emptied the water tanks before settling down for a rest. At daybreak, Rigoberto saddled his horse and stealthily made his way to the hardware store. The perimeter was quiet; he cleared the few dead from the entrance and began to meticulously search every shelf and toolbox. He found useful materials and smaller tools, but the industrial fuse compartment was completely empty. Reality hit him hard: this would be the most difficult item to track down. With no clear leads and empty-handed regarding the main objective, Rigoberto returned to base. Sitting in front of the map, he understood that the mission had transformed into an enigma of uncharted territory. There was no other option but to rearm, secure supplies, and prepare for a blind expedition.
