The Most Dangerous Ways to School PERU | Free Documentary Spanish Next Episode: The Most Dangerous Ways to School PHILIPPINES: • Caminos más Peligrosos a la Escuela FILIPI... It's early morning when Vidal gets ready for the day. But before Vidal can prepare for his dangerous walk to school, he must take care of his family's livelihood. Like every morning, he checks the fishing nets. After work, it's time for totora reed bread and mate tea. Both, like almost everything here, are made from totora reeds. The Uros are a people deeply rooted in their traditions. They've even managed to preserve Pukina, their native language that dates back to pre-colonial times. After two hours of paddling, Vidal reaches the center of the village. He floats past houses, where a family is building their new island since the old one has begun to rot. It's the normal rhythm here. Every three years, a new floor needs to be laid under one's feet and a new roof over one's head. Construction begins by cutting the totora roots into 30-cm-long blocks. Five hundred of these blocks are tied with rope and soaked in water for three months until they fuse into a large block. On top of this block, the family piles totora up to two meters high, until part of the block sinks into the water and begins to rot. The gases released from this underwater biomass create a buoyant force that makes the new island float. After three hours of rowing, Vidal finally arrives at Uro Elementary School, where he learns to read and write. Here, in addition to his native language, he also learns Spanish. It's not his parents' language, but at the same time, it's his chance at a future outside his village. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to the Free Documentary Español Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: / free.documentary Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary # ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary Español is dedicated to bringing high-quality documentaries to YouTube for free using the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios.
