Skamieniałości przewodnie / Dr Daniel Tyborowski

Lecture by Dr. Daniel Tyborowski, organized as part of the Wednesday Encounters with the History of the Earth, [March 23, 2022] https://wszechnica.org.pl/wyklad/skam... Index fossils – fossils characterized by a narrow stratigraphic range and wide geographic distribution, making them a good dating tool for the sedimentary rocks in which they occur. Examples of such fossils include trilobites, graptolites, conodonts, ammonites, and foraminifera. Organisms that produce good index fossils were characterized by widespread occurrence, a wide environmental range, and a rapid rate of evolution (short time ranges). Fossils derived from them should be easy to identify. Dr. Daniel Tyborowski – Research Assistant Professor at the Museum of the Earth in Warsaw. He is interested in marine reptiles, the paleobiology of marine vertebrates, and isotopic studies of teeth and bones.
