The successful winemaker aims to attract people to his hometown of Tscherms with an unusual mix of garden, winery, and restaurant. The gardens are a combination of an open-air art exhibition, green spaces for inner contemplation, and a horticultural puzzle with a labyrinth of vines. To further develop his garden, Count Franz von Pfeil is looking for new ways to attract more visitors. The Kandlwaalhof farm is located in the Vinschgau Valley, South Tyrol's extensive apple-growing region. At this very special farm, farmer Karl Luggin cultivates the almost forgotten Weirouge fruit variety, distinguished by its crimson flesh. Karl and his family process the fruit into vinegar, mustard, wine, and a deep red apple juice. They sell their products in the Vinschgau Farm Shop, whose most famous supporter is Reinhold Messner. Karl and Luggin meet regularly. Their goal is to promote the cultivation of high-quality organic products and make them known beyond South Tyrol's borders. The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are world-renowned. Over 80 garden landscapes, ranging from Mediterranean to Alpine, extend over an area of ​​twelve hectares and an elevation difference of one hundred meters. Empress Sisi once came here for the mild climate; today, visitors from all over the world flock here. At the Garden Tourism Conference in Toronto, Trauttmansdorff Castle was named International Garden of the Year 2013.
