In an interview with Milagros Leiva's program, Esta Noche, he stated that he does not recognize the legitimacy of her upcoming government and asserted that the leader of Fuerza Popular "is a Japanese citizen," an argument he used to question her coming to power. During the conversation, Humala also addressed the situation of former President Pedro Castillo. He noted that Castillo had promised on several occasions to pardon Antauro Humala, but asserted that this had not materialized. He further maintained that Castillo "is justifiably imprisoned" for having attempted a coup d'état in December 2022, labeling him "a coup plotter." The patriarch of the Humala family also addressed the legal situation of his son, Ollanta Humala, who remains imprisoned in connection with the Odebrecht case. Regarding this, he stated that the former president is being held captive and revealed that he has no communication with him or his daughter-in-law, Nadine Heredia, who is currently under diplomatic asylum in Brazil.
