🚣‍♂️🚶‍♂️Laguna y cascada Hualcupen - Caviahue NQN

The route can be done by kayak followed by a hike. In this case, it's about 1,000 meters of paddling and another 1,000 meters of hiking to reach the waterfall. It took me about 20 minutes in the kayak and 15 minutes walking, taking photos and such. You can also walk around the lagoon and reach the waterfall the entire way; it's not difficult. It's a freshwater lagoon, formed by meltwater runoff from the surrounding mountains, and is approximately 20 meters deep. The Hualcupen Stream originates here and flows through the valley of the same name. This lagoon is very popular during the summer season as a recreational area and is located within the lands of the Mapuche community "Millain Currical" during their summer grazing period. It has a volcanic sand beach. You can spend the day there, enjoy a typical goat stew (chivito) from northern Neuquén, swim in calm waters, and try kayaking, fly fishing, and floating. From the Caviahue tourist office: Take Provincial Route 26 towards Loncopué. After 3.5 km, on the right, you'll find the access to the Mapuche community and Hualcupen Lagoon. From the access point, you'll travel 7.5 km on a dirt road to reach the lagoon.
