🔵⚪️ HUELLA ANDINA etapa 9 - Puerto Canoa - Aila

The hike starts in Puerto Canoa. We walked from the Raquitue campsite (a beautiful spot on the lake shore with Wi-Fi and a general store with reasonable prices!) to the narrows between Lake Paimún and Lake Huechulafquen, adding 4 km to the hike. Actually, the stage begins in Puerto Canoa, about 2 km before the narrows. To cross the narrows, you ring a bell and a boat comes to pick you up. The crossing is very short, taking only 5 minutes. If you're not camping at the Ecufue campsite, they charge you; at that time, it was $12,000 per person (we thought it was a bit pricey, but oh well). Once you cross the narrows, you have to check in at the campsite administration office, and they'll tell you how to start the hike. The trail is well-marked and presents no technical difficulties. There are some sections that might be wet or muddy, so there are logs on the ground to help you cross, but they're not difficult. Once you arrive in Aila, all that's left is to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can camp next to Lake Paimún, and its waters invite you to swim.
