A year ago, Meta's Oversight Board ordered the removal of a threatening post against Peruvian human rights defender Jennie Dador, following a lawsuit filed to defend her rights before the organization. I spoke with Patricia Cruz about this case and how strategic human rights litigation can be applied to the reporting mechanisms of digital platforms. Patricia Cruz Marín is a lawyer at the Center for Justice and International Law, an organization specializing in representing victims before the Inter-American Human Rights System and other international protection mechanisms. She holds a law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a degree in Political Science from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), as well as a master's and doctorate in law from Yale Law School. She is also a professor at the UNAM Faculty of Law, where she teaches courses on human rights and constitutional law. She has extensive experience in research and strategic litigation in cases of serious human rights violations, as well as in teaching International Human Rights Law.
