Hubbub Theatre Company's Actor Training Programme - LaunchPad Year One (Full Film)

In November 2017 Derby based Hubbub Theatre Company launched an actor training programme for adults with learning disabilities. Hubbub Theatre Company is an integrated ensemble of performers with and without learning disabilities, that creates original, devised physical theatre for both indoor and outdoor performance. The actor training programme offered a unique opportunity for adults, 18 year+ with learning disabilities who were interested in performance and wanted to develop key performance skills. The foundation year programme ran two days a week and focused on stage presence, ensemble work and physical theatre. The actors have worked with a range of theatre practitioners including Cat Boot from Can’t Sit Still Theatre Company, Gecko and Told by an Idiot. In June 2018 an event ‘LaunchPad: Exploring the Space in Between’ at Déda, Derby saw Hubbub’s project partners Told by an Idiot and Can’t Sit Still join them for a day of devised integrated physical theatre, exploring the ‘Space in Between’ learning disabled and non-disabled performance. The day was created in order to celebrate everything that had been achieved in the first year of training. This is the full film that was created for the event to showcase what Hubbub’s actors had learnt and achieved in the first year of the course.
