D4: Pielaszów - Chańcza Freedom Trail The last day on the trail was once again filled with shrines, crosses, and plaques commemorating partisans from World War II. I'll also remember it for the palace in Kurozwęki, where fans of the American bison steaks served there apparently gather (🫪), the atmospheric ponds, wild backwaters, and the Chańcza reservoir (note: not to be confused with the Masurian Hańcza 🤯). Just before the finish line, we were accosted by a local who'd gotten a little carried away with the holidays. Recognizing us as tourists, he proudly expressed his local patriotism with the question, "Our Chańcza is cool, isn't it?" Well, it's cool in the off-season. We finished the hike around 1:20 PM. This trail is quite old, but it still has potential. It leads through places where stories of liberation and equality took place, and that justifies its existence. However, there's no excuse for so much asphalt (approximately ~75% of the total). Especially where you could look for a dirt path, but you're stubbornly walking alongside speeding cars.
