Voortrekker Story Series Part 1
This is the first episode in a new series of stories told by Battlefield Guide, Ron Gold, based at Three Tree Hill. This series will focus on the Voortrekker people and the challenges they faced during The Great Trek, which began in 1836. It was a mass migration of Dutch-speaking inhabitants of the British-run Cape Colony, who left the Cape and travelled eastward by wagon-train, into the interior of the continent. They did this in order to live beyond the reach of the British colonial administration.
