Shrewsbury, A deeper look at the Mechanical interlocking
This is a big one, which still doesn’t do mechanical interlocking full justice but is as much as we could cram in to look behind the scenes at the century old system that keeps trains running safe through the signalling at Shrewsbury station. Whilst most videos focus on the Signalbox and the operating floor, we’ve taken a deeper look below the top floor thanks to our colleagues at Network Rail and especially the great knowledge of our mechanical expert Carl who looks after the testing of these interlocking frames. We’d like to thanks Carl, the signallers and our colleagues at Network Rail and hope that this deep look behind the scenes is of interest to you all.
