Don’t Go to Church Just to Ignore God’s Word (Hebrews 4:1-13; 10:24-25)

In Hebrews 4, the author warns us through the example of Israel in the wilderness: they heard God’s promises, received God’s commands, and gathered for worship, but the message did not benefit them because they did not receive it with faith. Church attendance can look faithful on the outside while masking a heart that is not listening to God. The weekly gathering of God’s people is not merely about attendance, preference, or liking the sermon. It is about submitting ourselves to God as He speaks through Scripture. God gathers His church each week to tune our hearts toward eternity, strengthen our faith, and send us back into the world ready to trust, repent, rest, and live for what lasts forever.
