A jiu-jitsu coach was arrested in Manaus on suspicion of statutory rape. Melquisedeque de Lima Galvão Ferreira, 47, had his temporary arrest ordered for 30 days. According to the São Paulo Civil Police, the crime allegedly occurred in February, during a competition in Italy, against a 17-year-old athlete. Messages sent to the victim's family indicate an attempt to avoid the investigation and admission of the crime. The police are investigating other possible similar incidents.
