Alsof de tijd stil stond: Alkmaar terug naar 1573

This weekend, the city center of Alkmaar was all about Kaeskoppenstad. During the historical event, a part of the city was transported back to the year 1573, the period immediately following the Relief of Alkmaar. RTV80 TV was there. Between the canals, bridges, and historic facades, hundreds of participants appeared dressed in sixteenth-century clothing. Visitors could see how crafts were practiced, trade was conducted, and what daily life looked like in those days. Historical scenes were reenacted at various locations, ranging from a fishing community to scenes involving illness, justice, and imprisonment. Kaeskoppenstad is organized annually with the help of many volunteers. The event utilizes the historical character of the Alkmaar city center, making the past visible for a moment within the contemporary cityscape. This report features footage of the historical characters, the recreated street scenes, and the atmosphere in the city center during the two-day festival. Will you be watching?
