Ulster: the Choice
In the regular Question Time slot on 21 May 1998 came this special, covering the issues in Northern Ireland's referendum on the Good Friday Agreement. The referendum was held on the following day, Friday 22 May. Here, David Dimbleby interviews five leading Northern Ireland politicians: David Trimble (Ulster Unionist), Gerry Adams (Sinn Féin), Rev Ian Paisley (Democratic Unionist), John Hume (SDLP), and Robert McCartney (UK Unionist Party). There are contributions from members of the public from the two communities: Diana Madill is with unionists in Carrickfergus, while Wendy Austin is with nationalists in Newry.
