DEFINITIVE DEF LEPPARD: GODS OF WAR - How is it really played?

Part 9 of my mini-series: Definitive Def Leppard!! Today we're looking at Gods of War. This has one of my favourite Def Leppard choruses in it. A lot of the riff work in this song is done by Steve Clark, with Phil Collen providing chuggy chord support. I chose to play the verse and intro in line with Steve's part just because it's more interesting than chugging on E for 16 bars. By the way, the "Making of Hysteria" video that I reference, with the link to the Gods of War chorus backing vocals can be found here:    • Video   As with a lot of Def Leppard songs from this time, a lot of the riffage is taken care of by Steve Clark, with Phil Collen providing chuggy chords. I chose to play the intro and solo parts in line with Steve in this because it makes for a more interesting video. Having spent a number of years some time ago in a Def Leppard tribute band in the role of Phil Collen, I struggled to find any detail on some of Phil's live playing when I first started learning the material. In this series, I'll be going through some of my favourite Def Leppard songs (especially ones from the Live in the Round tour which our show was based on) and running through what I believe to be Phil's main parts. I haven't played these songs for a good few years since so cut me some slack ;-) #defleppard #hysteria #GodsOfWar
