SANGGAU - Dayak Hospitality, King & Wedding (West Kalimantan, Borneo)

In today's video I travel from Pontianak to Sanggau regency in West Kalimantan, Borneo. Where I truly get to experience the Malay hospitality, I get to meet a Malay King and even see a Malay Wedding! On my journey towards Kapuas Hulu, I stay one night at Harvey Hotel in Sanggau, from where I set out to explore Sanggau City. I first visit the Kings / Sultan palace called Istana Surya Negara, the number one attraction in the city of Sanggau. Here I chat with some locals, who teach me a bit of Dayak and Sanggau language. As the Kapuas River runs by Sanggau, I hired a captain, to take me out on the Kapuas. He then Invited me into his family home at Sungai Ranas, where I met his lovely family. In the Afternoon, I was invited into the King of Sanggau's house. Pak Gusti Arman, the customary king of Sanggau. He told me a bit of the story of Sanggau and the sultanate and taught me a bit of the Malay Language. I ended the day with a visit to the Harvey Gym on top of Hotel Harvey, because apparently Sanggau is all about sports and exercise!
