Flight Replicas P-40 Warhawk - Evening Aerobatics (incl Spectator View) - Microsoft Flight Simulator

Trying out the brand-new Curtiss P-40N by Flight Replicas over Duxford. This video is quite a bit longer than my previous ones. One reason is, that I included the full display out of a spectator view and the second reason is, that I got carried away with the aerobatics. I would love to hear from you if you want to see more videos like this one. Or separate videos from a spectator view and keep the videos shorter. You might be wondering why somebody wants to have three P-40s in the sim. Well, all three are totally different variants, with unique features. Big Radials P-40 is an early long nose model. Inibuilds P-40F was the attempt to get better performance out of the P-40 by fitting a Merlin engine to it and Flight Replicas P-40N was the attempt to increase the performance by shedding weight. The P-40N was the last production-variant of the P-40. It was radically lightened by removing everything that wasn't 100% necessary and was equipped with a new canopy design for better visibility. Since I'm a big P-40 fan I'm quite happy to have three variants in the sim and would probably also get a E- or K-variant if someone would publish one. Flight Replicas P-40 is visually stunning and probably the most authentic depiction of it or at least on par with iniBuilds one. The textures are of high quality too. And as you can hopefully guess from the video, the flight model is fun too. However, in my view, overall it still needs some work. There are some issues with flickering glass textures and I had issues with the shock-absorbers continuing to rock after landing on a grass runway, which heavily affected my fps. I also think that the ground handling is a bit to tame at the moment. System wise there are also some issues. The mixture leaver is currently a two-position switch and doesn't even shut down the engine. And the prop has the same issue iniBuilds P-40 had upon release (iniBuilds fixed theirs very quickly). The prop doesn't behave like a constant-speed prop should, it should reach 3000 rpm on takeoff and the rpm shouldn't be affected by the airspeed. At the moment the prop leaver is of no use. Flight Replicas was one of my favorite developers in FSX. Their airplanes always were of high quality. So, I'm hopeful that the above mentioned issues will be fixed and the systems will be improved in updates in the future.
