Aeroplane Heaven Mitsubishi A6M-2 Zero – First Aerobatic Display – Microsoft Flight Simulator
Today we’re taking a look at Aeroplane Heaven’s new Zero. The Zero came as quite a surprise, as there were no previous announcements. Originally, I intended to wait for Blackbirds upcoming A6M5 Zero. But since the ex-Texas Flying Legends A6M2 is probably my favorite of the airworthy Zeros, having a A6M2 in the sim too, was just too tempting. And I have to say, I’m glad I bought it. It’s not perfect, but it looks great and is a ton of fun to fly. If you’re into aerobatics and warbirds, I can highly recommend the Zero. Like the real one, it’s one of the most agile warbirds around. It’s very easy to fly, takeoff and land and the custom ground handling feels great too. When it comes to the visual model, I think it’s one of Aeroplane Heaven’s better works. There are, however, a few inaccuracies like the tailwheel assembly, which is a bit small or the spinner which extends all the way to the crankcase of the engine, which isn’t accurate to the real thing. The most noticeable differences are the way to big artificial horizon and turn and slip indicator in the cockpit. Which is a shame, as the rest of the cockpit, in my opinion, looks fantastic! All of these inaccuracies are also noticeable in the preview pictures, so I knew of them before I bought the Zero. I just thought it would be worth pointing them out. I think the rest of the visual model, both on the in- and outside look great and with the mentioned features reworked it would be pretty much perfect. The aircraft comes with plenty of textures. Overall, they look quite good, but I still hope we’ll see some repaints for it. I would especially like to see a few less worn textures and some more accurate tan colored ones, instead of the grey-white ones, like the one in this video. What could use a bit of a rework, are the glass textures of the canopy. The scratches in the glass are quite pixelated, which is very noticeable, if the sun shines on them. The one thing that definitely isn’t great about the Zero is its sound package. It reminds me of the first soundset of Aeroplane Heavens P-47. It sounds good at idle, but very strange at higher power settings. I don’t expect to see it, but an upgrade like they did for the P-47 would be awesome. Over the next few days, I’ll try to replace the soundset, probably with the one from Got Friends Wildcat, which is also powered by a 14-cylinder radial engine. So overall it isn’t perfect, but I enjoy it a lot and I’m very happy with my purchase. I’m still super excited about Blackbirds upcoming A6M5, from the preview shots it seems to be a lot more accurate and if it is anything like their Corsair, it’ll be absolutely awesome! But to be fair to Aeroplane Heaven’s Zero, I also expect Blackbirds one to be more expensive. If you only plan to get one Zero I would suggest waiting for the release of Blackbirds one and comparing reviews, features, sounds and so on. But if you, like me, want multiple variants of the Zero, I’m sure you are going to enjoy Aeroplane Heaven’s A6M2 too. For this video I take the Zero up for an aerobatic display over EDBK Kyritz, a small airfield close to Berlin. The airfield addon is by Aerosoft and with its two 1000m runways it’s perfect for warbird activities. Thanks for watching the video!
