20220520 Gemini 3200 Centerboard Construction

My Gemini 3200 catamaran needs new centerboards. In this video I show how I fabricated the first replacement centerboard from four 8' long 2x10 boards. Using dimension lumber makes a stronger centerboard than plywood, although plywood construction would be easier. Not shown are the attachment points for the centerboard control lines. I used two 1/4" x 3-3/4" stainless steel eye screws at the ends of the arc that passes under the centerboard control drum. I haven't drilled the hole for the pivot bolt. Given the variability of Gemini construction I'm going to wait until I am ready to install the centerboard to make sure I get the hole in just the right place. I will drill the hole oversize and epoxy a bushing of 1/2" PVC pipe to seal the wood from exposure to sea water. I intend to make a video showing the installation process which will include those details missing from this video.
