Today, we dive into the world of TransPennine Express, but first, let's wrap up a topic from our previous episode. The new 'Mark 5' coaches introduced in the UK in 2018 had numerous issues right from the start. In this video, we’ll discuss the incident from August 2019, which we witnessed by chance. This incident involved the Caledonian Sleeper, which uses similar coaches to the NOVA3. It was reminiscent of a scene from 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. The main feature of this video is the TransPennine Express intercity train, the Class 397, also known as 'NOVA2'. Built by the same Spanish manufacturer of the Mark 5 coaches, the Class 397 trains are designed for speeds up to 200 km/h and operate on the West Coast Main Line in the UK. CAF, the Spanish manufacturer, has been expanding its influence worldwide, including in the UK, Europe, Australia, and Mexico. One of the most famous CAF trains in the UK is the Class 332 used by the Heathrow Express, providing direct access between Heathrow Airport, the UK's largest airport, and central London. I have personally used the Class 332 many times and found it to be very comfortable. However, this train also has a bittersweet ending.
