Act Like You Love Me Both Versions Jimmy Rogers Guitar Lesson

No matter where I go I keep coming back to Jimmy Rogers. This video is by request from a guitar student and I'm so glad I had the chance to dig deep into it. Jimmy takes two solos in the alternate take of "Act Like You Love Me" (in F) and one "counter-point" or tandem solo with Little Walter in the regular version (which is in G). I didn't get to see Jimmy THAT many times, and when I did, he didn't play as full a style as he does on these recordings (but it was still great!), but I saw Dave Meyers a lot on guitar and they seem to me to be very similar! The use of the open strings, and the boogie phrasing of the solos are both key characteristics. There's also an electric update of lots of Big Bill Broonzy ideas. Muddy Waters's bass lines are awesome as always, he was not just a star but a great blues sideman!
