O Parque de Ciência e Tecnologia da Universidade do Porto – Observatório Itaú Cultural (2019)
Fátima São Simão and Helena Santos discuss the Science and Technology Park at the University of Porto in Portugal. Created in 2007 to support the development of new technology startups, it has over time also encompassed creative industries. The project seeks to establish relationships between the market and the university, balancing scientific knowledge with technological application. The two academics also discuss how the humanities and social sciences have an important role to play in making specialized technological knowledge more accessible, tangible, and practical, so that it is not underutilized due to incomprehensibility. Testimonies recorded during the seminar "The Machine, Intelligence, and Disintelligence: Utopia and Entropy in Sight," held at Itaú Cultural in São Paulo, São Paulo, in November 2018.
