Dog Walk Sketches: Aloe arborescens

"Dog Walk Sketches" is a new series where I paint whatever catches my eye while on a walk with my dog. I love taking photos of beautiful plants and flowers while I'm out with my dog, then using the photos as inspiration for paintings. First up is a striking red Aloe arborescens flower growing in my neighborhood. In this video: a few clips from the walk where I spotted the flower, then the full process back at my desk — inking the flower from a reference photo, filling it in with warm red and orange watercolor, and finishing with some hand-lettering and line work to complete the piece. No pressure, no rush. Just noticing something beautiful outside and bringing it home to paint. This channel is all about art as relaxation, so settle in and enjoy the process.
