Haritha Kanda, also known as the 'Green Mountain` is a mountain which is ~6000 feet above sea level and a popular camping ground in Bopaththalawa with a 360° view. Located en route to a farm and known for its lush greenery and therefore it's nickname, `Little New Zealand` or `Mini-New Zealand`. One can hike to the peak starting at the main campground and reaching the top takes approximately around ~30mins with a few pauses in between. There are multiple footpaths leading to the top all of which converge at one point or the other. A vehicle itself cannot be driven to the peak. Before starting the journey, permission must be taken from the nearest police station by filling out 2 identical forms which must then be presented at the ticket counter near the entrance.
