Cruzamos el paso más alto entre Chile y Argentina en bicicleta

A while ago, this idea was born with Nacho Gallo: to explore northern Chile on gravel bikes, connecting diverse landscapes, towns, and cultures through a completely self-supported journey. The goal was ambitious: to complete more than 1,200 kilometers and nearly 20,000 meters of elevation gain in just 6 days, traversing desert, mountains, valleys, and endless routes where often there was nothing but wind, dust, and us pedaling. It all began by crossing the Agua Negra Pass, the highest border crossing between Chile and Argentina, reaching almost 4,780 meters above sea level. ([Wikipedia][1]) A truly extreme place, where the landscape seems otherworldly and every pedal stroke feels twice as intense due to the altitude, the cold, and the constant wind. From there, this adventure began, taking us through some of the most incredible corners of the north. Every day was different. We traveled from remote roads deep in the mountains to small towns where people came out to greet us, asking where we were from and where we were going. And that ended up being one of the most special parts of the trip: the people we met along the way. Many people opened their homes to us, helped us when we needed it, or simply gave us a few minutes of conversation and good energy. We connected with different communities, learning about the local culture, the customs of the north, and how life changes depending on where you are. Of course, there were also difficult moments. Endless days on the bike, headwinds, heat, cold, accumulated fatigue, and days when it seemed impossible to keep going. But that's precisely where the best stories happen and where these kinds of trips truly find their meaning. Because in the end, this project wasn't just about completing a route or reaching a destination. It was about experiencing the whole journey: discovering new places, connecting with people, and feeling that sense of freedom that only comes when all you have to go on is your legs and a bike. In this video, we want to show you all of that: the preparation, the routes, the landscapes, the good times, the tough times, and everything we experienced during this adventure riding gravel bikes through northern Chile and Argentina.
