Chasing a Rare Malibu Swell in March

Malibu isn't supposed to break like this in March. The south swells usually arrive much later in the year… but on this morning something unexpected showed up early. Surfers from all over Southern California made the drive, the lineup filled in, and long classic Malibu walls started rolling through. And then something even stranger happened. A shallow inside section began throwing a rare little barrel for anyone willing to risk it. This episode follows the day as it unfolded — from the traffic on Pacific Coast Highway, to the packed lineup, to the sets that kept everyone paddling. Sometimes the ocean shows up early. And when it does… everyone comes running. Thanks for watching. I'm Brad Jacobson and I'll sea ya on the sand.
